I clearly remember the moment, when during the 70`s I was sitting for the first time in the valley of the Teno river close to the rapids and watching the waters shimmering surface and pondering on the way of the world.

In my other hand I was holding a Räsänen Seiska, which has been on the end of the line on countless occasions. I was pleased, as again, another fishing trip was successful. Next to me lies a beaten salmon, after a strong and difficult battle. Very simple looking and also a bit worn out copper colour Räsänen has proved its best again. The same lure has always been with me in my special lure box and it has seen many different waters in Finland and abroad. I was looking back on the old days. Decades ago when my old friend from Kuusamo, Aimo Hyytiä who makes fly` s, asked from the Teno rivers Lappish man Uula Guttor, which lure he would choose if he would have three choices; a wobbler, a fly or a metal lure, and Uula answered without blinking an eye - Räsänen Seiska. I understood, because, without the same lure I would have felt myself very alone by the river.

Years have past. Fishing trips from the Teno have expanded to the Tornio River and they have become traditions for many. During these years and fishing trips the views have visibly changed. People have built so many roads, bridges and other buildings, that the nature by the river looks different. However, the river still flows in its own channel.

Fish swim up to river, like they have always done throughout history. At the fishing spot I dig out my same copper Räsänen Seiska, like always before. There is hardly a trip I wouldn't have caught a fish with that. The fish habits have not changed even though the world around them has. Räsänen´ s teasing swim tempts fish as well as 80 years ago!

Still today in Kuusamo we cherish the Finnish tradition to prepare lures. We will take care that all original models and colours will stay in our selection. From them we will also develop new models. Anyway they will respect the older classic models. You will find the same old familiar shape, swimming movements, and catch from all our lures, although they would have dressed up in a new costume.

From this website you will find both original classics and top new models, which we have carefully developed by the years. New sizes and colours are just a matter of fine-tuning to improve the quality. Choosing the right colours helps the old traditional models to make catching more effective. In our selection from the old models we have developed different sizes, so that you would find the most suitable alternative for your favourite fishing place- either if you fish; shallow or deep, rapids or sea. In all of our lures, there will combine the Kuusamo´ s lures original appearance and the true fishing capability.

I just looked through my photo-album, which includes a collection of pictures from my fishing trips. From the different years of pictures taken, I could notice how the World has changed. Year by year, houses and the other marks from human hands have appeared behind photos of favourite fishing spots. Also peoples fashion have changed, and so have casting rods with reels taken big steps forward. Anyway there are a couple of things which will never change; The Fisherman´ s sincere and happy face and the victorious lure. You will notice the same when you read through the old brochures of Kuusamon Uistin and the photo galleries at the back of them.
